  1. 1. I think that the movie is authentic because the story tells about the life of some people who had got very difficult lives.
    2. My impression is that the film is sad because it tells about a sad story but is important to see it because we need to know all the faces of life in the world.
    3. the contrasts in the city landscape of los angeles are: The city is a very rich city but it is too rich in some parts of the city and other parts are neglected.
    4. I don't understand the comparison. I'm sorry. this is my homework. good afternoon miss.

  2. 1. I think that this movie is authentic because it shows us what in a lot of books, news papers etc.. it's written: the story of an immigrant, with all the troubles and efforts that it concernes.
    2. My impression is that it's a raw film: it tells about a true story and most of the times true stories aren't happy, they always show us the grim reality that things are.
4.I think it's worse in LA because when Carlos was in Mexico there he can have a little bit more of safety because he wasn't an illegal immigrant. So in LA it's worse because there he isn't a citizen, he can't have a health care or a good job as in Mexico but he have anxiety of the MIGRA.
5.I'm a little bit shocked because it means that a lot of young immigrant people are a part of a gang; in our case Luis it's about our age and it's sad because I can immage how he can grow up while he's staying in a gang.
    6. For Luis is problematic because if he is in some troubles nobody can help him because if his father help him the MIGRA send him back to Mexico.

  3. 1.I think that this film is autenthic because it tells about true stories that in our world happens....even if this story is very sad (but I think that in the future can improve) is the reality and we have to think tht there are real people that are in th same situation.
2.I think it is a good film because the story isn't boring with a lot turnups.Usually I don't like true stories but in this case I really like it because I'm relly interested in the theme of migration because is an actual problem
3.In LA there are a lot of juxtaposition and contrasts first there are a lot of rich people and for this very rich people very often illegal immigrants like Carlo.
4.I think that life sometimes is better in LA and sometimes in Mexico because in Mexico people like carlo are more safe in work than in LA but in LA they can have brighter future because there are a lot of opportunities for people
    5. I really hate the behave of the police officer because handle Luis thinking that all the people that goes in this school ar e always members of a gang adn I really can't believe that can exist schools like this that looks like a prision
6.I think that the situation of his father causes Luis a lot of problems, he relly doesn't like the situation and threats his father very bad, he doesn't respect him.

  4. 1) I think this movie is authentic because in the story is telling the life about people who migrate from Mexico to America. they're illegal immigrants and so haven't the same rights of an american person. it's not a good story because carlos isn't happy abuot his life but is authentic.
2)I think this film isn't so happy because his life is not good but i think we have to know what happens in all the world because people aren't all happier than us.
3)in Los Angeles there are a lot of juxtaposition and contrasts because there's a part of city rich and the other part is poor and in my opinion isn't so good.
4)I think their life is better in LA because people have more possiblities to find a work but I think their life can impoove.
5)When the police officer said to Luis to remove his shirt I understand who lots of people like boys (16 to 18 years old)are members of this gangs so the life is not as better as i can image. It is an example of the bad life in the poor suburb in a big city like LA
5)for Luis is not good because if he have to do something important he can't because his father is an illegal person and haven't got documents. He don't respect his father .

i'm sorry miss for today, I really don't remember we had this homework .

  5. 7. At the begining of the movie Luis' attitude towards his country is very bad; he really doesn't like his culture I think he consider it as an old group of old traditions, maybe he consider his father as his culture: like an old man with old traditions; but at the end of the movie Luis relly change his opinion about his father and his culture, he understands that is the place where he's from, he respect his culture and he looks at his father with respect and admiration.
8.I don't think that Luis is similar to his father because they're two (very) different people and Luis always lived with American culture and he bsorbed everithig that concern so I think that he is more American than Mexican but he consider Mexico as the place where he is from, and he doesn't feel all American but he doesn't feel all Mexican he is a mix of two countries.
9.Carlo for me says this things to Luis because he passed through this situation, when Luis was a baby and he tought about why he had Luis even if he was a poor and immigrant and he wants to teach Luis why he decided to keep Luis when his wife abandoned him and their child.
10.I learned that immigrate to America and stay there is very difficult but if you make it you have more possibilities than before and you can hope to a brighter future. But if the police arrest you, probably you'll be threated as a murderer or as a robber.Illigal immigration is a very bad crime in America

  6. 7. The attitude of Luis change trouhout the movie because at the beginning , he wanted to enter in a gang and he was a bully. During the film he changes and he becames more careful from the emotion of his father. When Carlos is blocking, Luis uderstand that the father is his family and he can’t live without him, because Carlos is his family.
    8. In my opinion Luis is very similar to his father because both have got mexican’s heritage and because both think about a better condition to live. They went together in the restaurant to find Santiago because they know that they are important for each other.
    9. When Luis says “why all these people have got children” Carlos answers “don’t say this thing”, in my opinion carlos answers in this way because he loves his son and because he wants to teach to Luis that all those people love his sons or daughters. At the and, Carlos says that he has Luis because his son is the reason of his life and because he loves Luis’ mother.
    10. I have learned that there are lots of illegal immigrants in America, because all of these people wish for a better life. When an immigrant is arrested by the police, also if this person has children, usually can’t stay in America and he/she is sent to the state of his/her origins. When Carlos asks to the lawyer if he has probability to win a court’s sentence to stay in America, the lawyer tells tha his probability are the 3% or less.

  7. A BETTER LIFE

    1. I think that the movie is authentic because it tells about a real story. The story talks about Carlos and Luis. Carlos, Luis’ father, is an illegal immigrant. He is a gardener, and he lives with his son in America. Luis is a boy and he is 15.

    2. My impression of the film isn’t so good. I don’t like the film because it’s sad, but I think that all true stories usually are sad. But if you see the film, you learn about immigration better than in any other way and I think that this is one of the most important thinghs.

    3. In the city landscape of LA there are some contrasts. For example there are big and rich houses and poor slums. There are big gardens and small, dirty parks. People who are rich or poor live and work together.

    4. I think that the life is better in LA because there are different jobs and because Luis can go to school. But is also difficult for Carlos to reach money because he is an illegal immigrant and he can’t have assistance if he need something special for his son, like a medic.

    5. The emotion that this part provoked in me are: compassion for Luis, who didn’t do anything wrong, and anger for the policeman, who thinks that he is the best and he can do what he wants. His comportment is the comportment that is used in very difficult situation, for example when people are in gangs, but Luis is only a child.

    6. Luis’ problems are that he can’t say the name of his father because he is an illegal immigrant, and he can’t go in a better school because he hasn’t got money.

8. A BETTER LIFE

    1. I think that the movie is real because it tells about similar stories that happened in the past in some states because it is a story of immigrants.
    2. in my opinion the film is so sad because it tells about a true story occurred at a difficult time of history.
    3. A contrast of the city landscape of Los Angeles is that the city landscape appears very rich because you can see the skyscrapers, that are a source of a strong economy, and beautiful houses but sometimes a part of city appears so rich and the other part is so poor and it is not considered.
    4. in my opinion their life is better in Los Angeles then in Mexico because here the father, Carlos, can work and the son, Luis, can go to school; in Los Angeles they have can make their life better.
    5. I was amazed because this fact makes it clear how the police quests increase the security controls about immigrants that could be part of gangs.
    6. I think that the situation of Luis is not an easy situation because if his father, Crlos, doesn’t have a good job he can’t guarantee a good life to his soon Luis.
    7. Luis’ attitude changes throughout the movie because in the first part of the movie he wanted to enter in a gang and he despised his culture, but gradually he changed his character and his thoughts and he took over his culture and his father, trying in every way to make him live a decent life making continuous sacrifices.
    8. I think that Luis is similar to his father because they want a better life and then they do everything to be able to realize their dream. I also think that Louis is similar to his father because though he was born in America he is Mexican inside.
    9. In my opinion Carlos responds in that way to Louis because he is the son of a poor immigrant. Also he wants to teach him that not only rich people can love their children but also poor people, in this case, immigrants.
    10. About immigration in America I have learn that in this state, every year arrived a lot of people, the immigrants, a big part of these people are illegal immigrants that who move from their country to America to have a better life: to found a job, to have a good house and to ensure education for their children, if they have. But if they are arrested by the American police because you have committed some crime you have the 3% of possibility to remain in that country or you are sent back to your country of origin.

  9. 7) Luis attitude changes a lot during the film; at the beginning he did't like his life, he did't like who he is because he did't accept his situation, he would like to be part of a gang, he wanted to changes his life, he did't respect his father because Luis thoughts he's a loser. at the end of the film Luis became another person, he understands why his father behaves in that way, he know the reasons why this father picks it up and so change this attitude.
8)I think Luis is not similar to his father because he feels himself an american person, is rude with his father because Luis don't think the same things as him and sometimes they fight but at the end the unerstand he's an immigrant, he understand why they are in America and so in that moments he's similar with her father. So I think it dipends on the situation.
9)Carlos answer in that way because he think Luis is too small to understand the reasons of that choice and so Carlos prefer that Luis didn't think about that argument.
10)thanks to the film I understand that in America there are lots of illegal immigrants (or immigrants in general) who live in bad conditions, they haven't got a regular home, they're poor and always concerne because they are afraid of getting caught by the police. I understand that people migrate in America for differents reasons but all want to improove their life.

that's my homework miss i hope it's correct.
    have a good weekend
    bye

  10. 3. The juxtapositions are that a part of the city is rich an the other is very poor, that few people are rich and the most part is poor, the contrasts between the citizens and the illegal immigrants are very high:the first are rich and they have a very beautiful life, the immigrants have a worse life they haven't enough money to buy shoes and shirts, and the immigrants have to work for the citizens.
7.I think that Luis' attitude towards his change throughout the film because at the beginning he doesn't want to confront with his background, he doesn't want to
care about it because it means that it's like a "foreigner" and he wants to be accepted by his friends and especially by "Celo" the boss of the gang because he
wants to become a menber of it. I think that he doesn't want to confront with his culture because it reminds him the abandonment of his mother after they (his
father and his mother) went to America; we can see in the film that he's really angry with her he doesn't want to speak about her because I think that he thinks
that his mother is the cause that they are in this bad situation because if his mother was remained with them the situation will not be the same as they are.
8.In my opinion Luis isn't similar to his father because he is young and warm-blooded: he always blusters and he wants to show at others that he is more adult
than he really is. Carlos has always to hold down him because he is always impetuous: he doesn't care about the consequences,I think that he does things then he
think. His father is teh opposite: he's calm and judicious, he always weighs up his decisions and he always calculates his actions because he can't make any
mistake: he has teh fear that if he gets in trouble with the justice and the MIGRA discover him he will be deportated to Mexico and his son will be alone in
    America.
9.I think that him respon this way because he was in a similar position and he understand that people, he want that Luis understand that it's a choice to have
babies and sometime it's hard to be able to give them a beautiful life. I think that he want that luis understand that he love him like other parents do and it
doesn't care if they haven't got money, they can raise up their children good only because they love them.
    10. I've learned that it's hard, it's very hard. For people from othe countries it's more or less impossible to be a legal immigrant but it's a better situation for
their children because here in Italy sometimes the children of immigrants can't go to school. But in an other way here in Italy people can have a health care in hospital
but in America they must have a health insurience. I've learned too that the love between a father and a son is immoderate: Carlos does everything ( steal a truk,
work all days of the week.....), it's impossible to destroy it, iven if the father is in Mexico and the son it's in America.

  11. 1) I think the muvie is authentic because tris film tells about a lire or immigrant and in the world of today a life like this is possible .
    2) I think the film is too sad because the immigrants don't have a good life but he have to see this for know the world around us.
    3) I think the contrast and juxtaposition are based on the difference of rich and poor: in a city apparently rich hides a poor world in the U.S. there are more Mexican immigrants (like Luis and Carlos) that people of American nationality even though when you visit an American city will see more rich people than poor.
    4) I think the life in LA is quite better than the life in Mexico because I think in Mexico Carlos didn't have work( or if he had it wasn't a good job) and Luis couldn't go to school , but in La they are a illegal immigrants so they can't have assistance if they need something.
    5) What this scene arouses me is: compassion for Luis that even if he did nothing is treated as a criminal, but I think the behavior of the police is not acceptable because he only looks at the appearance and he think all children of the age of Luis are part of gang and he think useless prejudices.
    6) Luis has to lie about her father and can not tell anyone the name of he for not risk exposing him also can't go to a better school because the father doesn't get money enough
7)Luis' attitude is change a lot in a film: at the beginning he want to take a part into a gang, he does not respect his father and his situation ... short he hates his life and wants to change it completely in any way is proposed. At the end Luis is becoming a another person : he understand why they live in this situation , what are the problems and why his father leave LA.
    8) I think at the beginning these two characters have very different character indeed collide very often: Carlos is a person who prefers speeches to the barrel while the child was the opposite.Towards the end, however, their approach become similar and they are able to understand each other.
10)I learned that the immigration in particular the illegal is not as easy as it seems and that very often is given by economic and social reasons.I also understand that many people risk their lives for this trip and that most of the few people arrive at their destination are sent back within one or two years.
